Littleton Police Department: "Helping Other People"For the last 7 years the "HOP" Program has been presenting useful and interesting information to senior citizens in Littleton. "HOP" was created by the Littleton Police Citizen's Academy Alumni Association in 1999. To date, the program has hosted presentations on identity theft, Internet fraud, pedestrian safety, 9-1-1 medical dispatch, stroke and heart attack prevention and treatment, tactical emergency medical support, and Littleton Police SWAT, as well as a variety of topics aimed at educating and assisting seniors in the Littleton area. These programs are offered twice each month at the Buck Recreation Center and Riverpointe senior living community. "HOP" works in partnership with the 18th Judicial District CASE program to provide timely information and support prosecution of crimes against seniors. "HOP" also provides information from the Senior Resource Center about their Tele-A-Sure program for seniors living alone. Citizens with questions or requests for assistance from "HOP" may call 303-734-8224. Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training for citizensThe Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) educates citizens about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact our area, and trains them in basic disaster response skills such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations.
Using the training learned in the classroom and during exercises, CERT members can assist others in their neighborhood or workplace during an emergency when professional responders are not immediately available to help. CERT members also are encouraged to support emergency response agencies by taking a more active role in emergency preparedness projects in their community. Contact the CERT training coordinator, or leave a message at 303-734-8224 for more information. CERT Training Brochure ( |
