A virtual site-based assessment team from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA®), will soon examine all aspects of the Littleton Police Department's policy and procedures, management, operations, and support services.

Verification by the team that the Littleton Police Department (LPD) meets the commission's state-of-the-art standards is part of a voluntary process to gain accreditation — a highly prized recognition of public safety professional excellence.

As part of the assessment, agency personnel and members of the community are invited to offer comments at a public information call-in session on Wednesday, November 3 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The number to call to speak with a CALEA Assessor is 303-795-3723.

Members of the community are also invited to offer comments in person on Wednesday, November 3 from 12 to 1 p.m. in the Community Room at the Littleton Center, 2255 West Berry Avenue.

Persons wishing to offer written comments about LPD’s ability to meet the standards for accreditation are requested to send their comments to Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement, Inc. (CALEA®), 13575 Heathcote Boulevard, Suite 320, Gainesville, Virginia 20155.

The Littleton Police Department complies with approximately 458 standards to gain CALEA Advanced Law Enforcement Accreditation Program accreditation.

Accreditation is for four years, during which the agency must submit annual reports, and participate in annual remote web-based assessments attesting continuation of compliance with those standards under which it was initially accredited in 2006.
