Littleton Police Make Arrest in Car Theft Case
Officers from the Littleton Police Department (LPD) responded to the Circle K in the 3600 block of West Bowles avenue at 4:45 this morning. Circle K employees reported that a Chevrolet Blazer had been parked in front of a gas pump for an extended period of time. Employees also said they observed a man inside the SUV trying to turn the ignition with a screwdriver.
When officers arrived, the SUV was running, but it was still parked in front of the gas pump. LPD officers identified the SUV as a stolen vehicle and used a procedure called Swift Vehicle Immobilization (SVIM) to prevent it from moving.
They then approached the driver’s side door after identifying themselves and repeatedly asking the man inside to step out. Following a struggle, officers arrested 39-year-old Adam Kirk Russell. Russell is charged with second-degree assault on a police officer, second-degree aggravated motor vehicle theft, and resisting arrest.
