Stephen Barr grew up in San Diego, California. After hiking the John Muir Trail across the Sierra Nevada Mountains, he went on to receive his B.Sc. in Environmental Engineering from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. Steve worked for various environmental consulting firms throughout the west coast, performing environmental site investigations and construction oversight for federal, state, and local entities. He went on to receive his M.Sc. in Science, Technology, and International Development from the University of Edinburgh and transitioned from engineering to international development consulting. During and in between employment, Steve volunteered for various emergency response efforts and international non-profit organizations across the world.

Steve, his wife Heather and daughter Kayleigh, moved to Littleton in 2018 from Vermont. Steve currently works with a Colorado-based nonprofit to manage volunteer opportunities for short-term engineering and technical services to undeserved communities across the United States, specifically in water and wastewater service provision. The family currently lives in the Highline Crossing Cohousing Community, and enjoys all the wonderful things that Littleton and the Denver area have to offer, from the art, food, museums, to hiking and camping and playing disc-golf throughout Rocky Mountains.
